The app
Gait Capture needs no account and has no cloud service. Your profiles, walks and recordings stay on your iPhone and are excluded from iCloud backups.
During a walk, the app reads the two motion sensors on your shoes over Bluetooth.
If you allow it, the app also uses your iPhone's location and motion during a walk. Both are stored with the recording, on your iPhone.
The app does not use the camera or record video. Videos from earlier versions, if any, stay on your iPhone.
Nothing is sent unless you choose to share a walk summary or data file, and then it goes only where you send it.
One exception: walks in the founder's own profile are sent, encrypted, to his private storage.
